The Daytona Beach News-Journal seeks a versatile and driven reporter to cover government and development in West Volusia County and to contribute to our trending news team. We seek a passionate, focused, and curious reporter who is also a nimble storyteller. We’re looking for someone who can jump on trends and breaking news, write quickly on deadline, and occasionally stretch to produce deep-dive enterprise pieces. The reporter will be able to produce compelling multimedia assets and social engagement and have strong SEO skills. The reporter will cultivate an engaging, active and inclusive social-media presence and should have photo and video skills. Occasional weekend and evening hours are required. You will need a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
DUTIES
Creates journalism that accurately informs, entertains and engages key audiences and platforms through the use of metrics and provides thoughtful analysis of complex issues.
Works with editors to evaluate what's working and what's not, and develops ongoing plans to better satisfy audience needs.
Collaborates with visuals and production team to provide all appropriate elements for stories.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferably one to two years of experience as a reporter/writer.
Proven experience with content management systems and social media channels.
Good time management and organizational skills.
This position is a driving role and requires background check, drug screen and a valid drivers license.
