Our goal is to serve the communities we cover by informing our readers about important local events, while connecting the business community with our audience. We will serve as the media pillar in Southern Alabama for the counties of Mobile, Washington, and Clarke.
The three newspapers of Clarke County Alabama are looking for an experienced leader to join a team that has recently merged with the newspapers from Washington County and Mobile County to form the largest media footprint in Southern Alabama as a Regional Publisher.
The right person will lead and direct all aspencts of the newspaper operation in Clarke County to include The South Alabamian (Jackson), The Clarke County Democrat (Grove Hill), and The Thomasville Times (Thomasville). He/she would also be involved with our other newspapers close by in The Call News (Citronelle), The Washington County News (Chathom). An experienced newspaper publisher will understand the complexities of leading three in-county newspapers with three different publications serving three different municipalities. One day we may combine the papers, just not yet. We have a full service print facility we are also looking to grow and expand so print experience is a plus.
Your newsroom and salesroom are aleady in place, the only thing missing is leadership. A vacuum was created when the former owner of 30 years retired, although he is still available and happy to help the new leadership.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled Publisher to join our team. We value professionalism, accuracy, and integrity in reporting and avertising. If you are passionate about newspapers and have a strong desire to inform the public through compelling storytelling and revenue generation, we encourage you to apply.
