Development Editor

Qualified candidates will be scheduled for interviews and required to complete a short vetting task for the role. When selected, you will be virtually onboarded and complete non-disclosure and business agreements. Invoices for payment are submitted at the beginning of each month for the previous month's work and are paid by direct deposit within 30 days.
Development Editor - Levels I II

Works closely with Editorial Project Lead, Scribe, and client as needed to communicate status or bring questions to stakeholders
Reviews content for style, coherence, organization, and adherence to the client's guidelines
Suggests rewrites, reorganization, or other changes to the content to reach quality and product goals
Reviews for and recommend structural and organizational changes
Provides a single author, series, level, or voice as requested
Coaches and trains author or writing team
Participates in design, marketing, production, and project meetings
Conducts plagiarism check (with report, if requested)
Performs market review duties, including needed research and reports, as requested"

Candidates will have experience with education content formatting, organization, and terminology, especially K-8. The ideal candidate will also have experience as a copy editor for educational materials, PLUS specialized discipline-specific, editorial, or grade-level training.

Compensation will be based on experience starting at $45/hr.
