Pokemon TCG Writer (Trading Card Game)

Dexerto is looking for a talented full-time US-based writer who can specialize in the Pokemon Trading Card game, working remotely from home to write news, tips, and guides.

You should be an ambitious writer who is able to source and write compelling stories that will appeal to Pokemon Trading Card game fans and collectors. You will be in tune with the process of grading cards, how much rarer cards are worth, and help guide players on their journey as a collector.

As you will be writing about Pokemon TCG mainly, you need to be a big fan of the series and be able to cover trading card news, guides, and lists with authority. An awareness of upcoming sets, where news drops, and planning skills are all essential for the role as you will be sourcing stories yourself – with assistance from the team.

The ability to cover other Pokemon stories is also a big advantage. For example, being able to write about mainline games like Pokemon Scarlet & Violet or Pokemon Go, at times.

Make sure to describe your TCG knowledge the best you can in your cover letter, referring to specific cards or sets. On top of that, we'd like to hear about your knowledge of the series overall – where your journey first began as a Pokemon fan.

Some knowledge of SEO and social media is also desirable.

Requirements

Expert knowledge of Pokemon TCG (Trading Card Game)
Broader knowledge of Pokemon series (Scarlet, Violet, Pokemon Go, more)
A snappy and compelling writing style
Able to write to short deadlines under pressure
Have a keen attention to detail – can spot grammatical errors and fact check.
Creative ability – able think of feature ideas and suggest news stories that will resonate with our audience
Able to act independently on writing tasks
Is confident with social media
SEO knowledge desirable but not essential
Own computing equipment that can run Photoshop and be able to use it competently
Experience with content management systems is desirable
Able to work full-time hours (40) without other education or job commitments
