Viral News Reporter

New Posted 4 October 2023 | Remote; UK | Dexerto

Dexerto is looking for a Viral News Reporter who can write entertaining news stories about fast food chains, viral moments, and other trending topics – working remotely from home.

We are looking for talented writers who can cover fun viral stories about fast food places such as McDonald's, Starbucks, KFC, Subway, and more. Being aware of what's trending, what's going viral, and what could be the next big news story for us will be key for the position – and that isn't limited to fast food.

On any given day, you might be covering something that's gone viral at Dunkin' Donuts or Dominos, but you will also be expected to find similar stories for a variety of household names. For example, Uber Eats, Outback Steakhouse, Costco, and Walmart. Having an awareness of the biggest brands across the United States and independently sourcing stories about them will be key to your success.

There's going to be a lot of variety in your work in this role – which is great for those who like each working day to be different!

As well as covering trending news stories, the Viral News Reporter may also be tasked with writing some SEO guide content, lists, or explainers. Knowledge of Reality TV shows that overlap with viral moments (Kitchen Nightmares right now, for example) is a strength, but not essential.

So, if you're looking for a flexible, work-from-anywhere position, covering some of the most entertaining topics on the likes of TikTok each day… Make sure to apply!

In your cover letter, be sure to mention your knowledge of brands (or similar) as listed in the job advert. Give us as much information as possible and, if you have any, some examples of your published work, too.
