The Digital Copywriter will support key company initiatives across both business units through the creation of brand-relevant copy to support multiple brands. This position will manage copy requests for new projects from start to finish, developing engaging copy for all organic social media, paid media, e-commerce content, blogs, email campaigns, web page, and banner and display ads. The Digital Copywriter will work closely with Digital Consumer Experience (DCX) team members, as well as Digital Marketing and Brand and Product Marketing when necessary, to ensure accuracy of content, editorial consistency and correct brand positioning. This position will provide assistance to team members on larger projects, oversee approval process for copy documents and participate in the planning and scheduling of work requests.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
(40%) Write, edit and maintain all e-commerce product copy to adhere with online data standards and brand guidelines in a deadline-driven environment
Create compelling copy that adheres to online data standards and brand guidelines
Produce enhanced content compatible with our various retailers’ platforms
Work with media team to identify SEM and SEO keywords to write highly informative, purposeful product descriptions
(30%) Write and edit all social media content to ensure editorial consistency and correct brand positioning
Develop engaging social media content that drives consumer interaction and conversion to our brand websites
Collaborate with Design team members to conceptualize image needs
Able to adapt copy to specific brand voices and audience segments
Demonstrate an understanding of key social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest
Ensure copy is cohesive with visual design
(15%) Write and edit copy for digital media needs, such as email campaigns, web pages, banner and display ads, blogs, etc.
Create compelling content to showcase new product launches, support website redesigns, and drive traffic to owned websites
Work with media team to write SEM content, including display URLs, Google descriptions and paid ad content in order to increase brand awareness and achieve defined digital marketing goals.
(15%) Assist with miscellaneous copywriting needs
Assist with video and radio script development
Assist DCX team on internal and corporate needs, including presentation decks or messaging
Research industry-related topics to develop content
Ensure all digital content is reviewed to meet internal legal and regulatory standards
Stay current with industry writing, editorial trends and competitive landscape
Stay informed about the work competitors are doing in the digital space and be aware of current and forthcoming trends
Participate in planning and scheduling of project requests
Collaborate with department leaders for quality control and efficient work practices
Participate in project kick-off calls and brainstorms
Provide creative input to DCX and Brand teams
Periodically evaluate team productivity and recommend improvements
Education and Experience Profile
Requires a BA/BS in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
3-5 years copywriting experience in digital marketing, advertising, social media, public relations or related field
Strong working creative portfolio demonstrating a focus on digital strategy and execution
Background in e-commerce or consumer products environment is a plus
Agency experience is a plus
Required Skills
Intermediate knowledge and experience in SEO and SEM best practices related to keyword research
Working knowledge of video script writing style
Strong creative writing, communication and technical writing skills
Experience with developing brand tone and/or brand copy guidelines
Ability to research industry-related topics and conduct interviews with key stakeholders
High degree of attention to detail
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently and prioritize deadlines
