Freelance Computing Writer

Who We are Looking For:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, computing-focused freelance writer located in the Portland, Oregon area.

The ideal writer will use their expert knowledge of computing technology (such as laptops and workstations) and computing-related products (such as components and peripherals) to conduct thorough product assessments and write high-quality reviews.

This work involves being on-site occasionally to handle products, do in-house testing and write engaging, highly knowledgeable content within communicated turnaround times.

Key Responsibilities:

Write original, high-quality, knowledgeable computing content that aligns with the site’s voice
Translate highly technical computing equipment and products into understandable and engaging reviews for our audience
Maintain organized inventory of products and provide reports, as needed
Deliver publishable content (including revisions) within required deadlines
Able to average 10+ product reviews per month
Adhere to brand and content guidelines
Accept and implement feedback, completing revisions and editing when necessary

Requirements:

Strong, proven writing skills and the ability to produce polished, engaging content.
Must have expert knowledge on computing, know how to build a PC, and be able to write engaging content about the components.
Flexibility to work on diverse assignments, each with unique requirements.
A commitment to meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
Ability to present on-camera product reviews would be a plus
Experience with Wordpress a plus, but not required.
Physical requirements for handling products – must be able to: Work independently. Stand, sit, kneel, or crouch for periods of time. Able to lift and move computing equipment for the purposes of the assignment.

Compensation and Expectations:

This role is a freelance position, compensation is based on completed assignments.
You set your own hours, write original content, and conduct your own product assessments and reviews, however you may need to be on-site for coordinated product reviews.
