About the Role:
As an OPIS Senior Carbon Market Editor, you will collect and analyze carbon credit allowance data to assess a daily pricing index for US compliance carbon emissions reduction markets. You will also conduct spot and feature news reporting on carbon credit prices, market fundamentals, and the fast-changing regulatory landscape for climate programs. You will also be cross-trained in how to cover several different carbon markets in a back-up capacity, beyond your primary market assignment.
You Will:
Generate breaking and feature news alerts on carbon markets, clean energy and environmental sustainability initiatives and legislation that impacts pricing
Research and report on new developments in carbon policies and programs
Collect and analyze spot market price transactions from industry participants via email, instant messaging and by phone.
Verify the legitimacy of market price transactions and adhere to Dow Jones pricing methodology to create daily price assessments
Network and develop sources in the U.S. carbon industry.
Contribute to social media content, blog postings, industry analysis, and publish Dow Jones reports.
You Have:
At least 5 years’ journalism or market analysis experience - preferably in the environmental, commodities, or financial sector
Market reporting experience in covering and working knowledge of carbon markets (cap and trade/cap and invest) , low-carbon and/or emissions reduction markets, and commodity market fundamentals (preferred)
Experience parsing complex regulatory and market issues into accurate and easily understood content
Experience with quickly analyzing data and market drivers with the aid of Excel or similar software
Conduct source development and active market engagement
Familiarity with existing industry contacts and stakeholders (preferred)
Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
