The Editor is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of all work products produced by the Training and Development department, including but not limited to policies, procedural documents, presentations, videos, internal and external communications, and course materials distributed through a learning management system (eLearning). Uses their expertise to focus on the detailed evaluation of a document’s grammar and usage, readability, overall formatting and structure, and suitability for the intended audience to ensure that we meet the highest standards for the work developed in the department.

Responsibilities:

Reviews, edits, and proofreads written materials for comprehensiveness, style, and accuracy to ensure it reflects the Company’s style guide, including addressing any grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, syntax, formatting, and graphic design errors. Addresses errors and suggests alternative usage and logic with work products while respecting the overall theme and intent of the content. Edits the goal of error-free work products that are clear, consistent, complete, and credible. Ensures projects meet their purpose and are written/designed to ensure successful usability, applies an understanding of customer requirements and the end user’s level of technical aptitude when editing, and corrects the content as needed for consistency and clarity.
Complies with the department’s project management and content development process using time efficiently and effectively to balance multiple projects and timelines while demonstrating accuracy and meticulousness.
Develops working relationships with team members to provide appropriate feedback from their edits and actively improve and promote quality by providing the department leadership with trending topics usable for team workshops and potential updates/edits for the Company’s style guide.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of professional experience in editing, marketing, journalism, and training.
Experience editing and writing technical documentation, training manuals, and policies.
Experience in editing and creating video tutorials or eLearning.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Office 365.
Basic knowledge of video editing systems such as Camtasia or other screen capture tools preferred.
Ability to make decisions; exhibit sound and accurate judgement; support and explain reasoning for decisions; include appropriate people in decision-making process; and make timely decisions.
Ability to work with minimal direction and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
