We are seeking a talented and experienced Editor to lead Nebraska Life Magazine. The ideal candidate will be passionate about narrative storytelling, have a keen eye for detail and possess a deep appreciation for the rich tapestry of life in Nebraska. As the Editor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the editorial vision and voice of Nebraska Life Magazine. This position is remote but does require residency in Nebraska.
Qualifications
10+ years media writing, journalism and editing experience.
Excellent narrative storytelling skills with experience writing for magazines or other publications.
Strong attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement to writers.
Knowledge of AP style and grammar.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field.
A passion for storytelling and celebrating the people, places, and history of Nebraska.
Must reside in Nebraska with the ability to travel the state monthly or more frequently.
Responsibilities

2. Editing: Edit and proofread stories to ensure accuracy, clarity and adherence to our high editorial standards.
3. Collaboration: Work closely with writers, photographers and designers to create entertaining and visually appealing stories.
4. Story Development: Contribute to the editorial direction of the magazine by generating fresh and compelling story ideas that engage with our readers.
5. Writer Development: Nurture, coach, train and build the magazine’s stable of freelance writers, interns and staff.
6. Research: Stay informed about Nebraska's evolving cultural landscape and identify potential story opportunities.
7. Style Adherence: Ensure that all stories align with the magazine's mission and maintain a consistent tone and voice.
8. Deadline Management: Manage editorial schedules and deadlines to ensure timely delivery of top-quality magazines.
