Editor/Reporter/Page Layout

New Posted 4 August 2023 | Wrangell, Alaska | Wrangell Sentinel

Our small weekly newspaper in a small town in Alaska has a big job opening: We need someone who can write, take photos, lay out pages, and do it all accurately and with a personal touch to engage the community of 2,000 people. The 121-year-old Wrangell Sentinel has a three-person staff; you would join a full-time reporter and full-time office manager who handles ad sales and circulation. The publisher provides remote editing and guidance, writes a weekly column, fills in as needed, and covers the bills so that the paper can afford to produce a quality product 51 weeks a year. The island community has a lot to offer, but no chain stores, no brewpub and no home mail delivery -- everyone goes to the post office. I am flexible on experience. What is important is that the editor care about newswriting and enjoys reporting -- and can live in a small town. Call or email Larry at paper@alaskan.com, cell 907-351-8276. No texts, please (I do not do emojis). The job is open now, so consider applying this week.
