Pay Range: $27-$30/hr temporary; $58K-61.5K upon perm conversion
Schedule: Hybrid | 2 days a week in-office
Our client, a prestigious non-profit medical association, is seeking an Editorial Assistant to join their team! This role will combine editorial and administrative tasks including scheduling meetings, preparing documents for related meetings, reviewing manuscripts for errors, proofreading, research references, and housekeeping duties related to a publication or product.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Editorial Support
Support the Manager of Developmental Editing and in-house/freelance editors with the operation of all publications and/or assigned projects
Provide project and content-development support and execute a variety of projects for the editorial team, as needed
Perform editorial tasks, such as checking typeset proofs (i.e. light proofreading), light copy editing, review manuscripts to identify punctuation and grammatical errors, verify facts, verify and fix references and citations in manuscript, tag and prepare electronic manuscripts for typesetting
Research and obtain permission for figures and tables
Review and proof online content against final and approved newsletters
Review layouts and designs for publications
Collaborate with marketing and sales to ensure product announcements are accurate
Ensures adherence to deadlines
Administrative Support
Maintain project folders and related housekeeping tasks for organizational purposes
Ensuring invoices for freelancers/vendors are submitted for processing
Set up and manage launch meetings and their related documents
Upload/download files to and from freelancers/vendors via FTP and SharePoint
Perform other project-or department-related work, as needed
May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience required
Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
Detailed-oriented with ability to learn and apply new knowledge and skills coupled with a strong desire to grow in book and product development
Strong command of the English language, with good verbal and written communication skills
Able to proof documents, write, cite, and create reference lists
Detail-oriented
Familiarity and knowledge working with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe products
