Bloomsbury Academic is seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide editorial and administrative support to a commissioning editor who acquires in Communication Studies. Reporting to the commissioning editor, the Editorial Assistant will assist with administrative and editorial tasks in order to publish scholarly books in Communication Studies. The Editorial Assistant will support the commissioning editor to achieve agreed revenue and profitability targets for their list; will manage and deliver the agreed targets for the list; and will liaise with key stakeholders, both internal and external. Responsibilities
Perform upkeep of electronic data systems and metadata including Biblio, CollectionPoint, Salesforce, and Focal Point
Secure reviewers for communication studies proposals and manuscripts
Process invoices, advance payments, and grants for reviewers, authors, and other vendors
Ensure timely briefing of books to production
Submit cataloguing information (CIP) and copyright registration to the Library of Congress
Process newly acquired and existing contracts
Actively digitizes incoming contracts, contributor agreements, invoices, and other necessary project documentation
Provides research assistance and reports on sales information
Provide research assistance on course markets, content, and competition as directed
Liaise internally with departments including production, design, marketing, sales, digital resources, customer service, eBook operations, warehouse distribution, accounting, and royalties
Writes and prepare cover copy for titles as assigned
Occasional copyediting and proofreading as needed, in Word and/or Adobe PDF
Requirements
Microsoft Office and Excel proficiency
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to problem solve
Ability to learn information and metadata systems quickly
Must be able to manage time wisely and work autonomously
Manage competing demands while making sure everything is done well
Must pay attention to detail

Location
Candidates who reside in the Washington metropolitan area and can commute to the Greenbelt, Maryland office on a hybrid-remote schedule are preferred. We will also consider candidates in the NY tri-state area who can commute to our NY headquarters on a hybrid-remote schedule. This is not a remote position.
Compensation
This position is entry level and is hourly. The annualized entry level salary for Maryland is $43,700. The annualized entry level salary for New York is $47,500.
