Education Week, an independent, nonprofit media organization that provides news, analysis, and research on K-12 American education, is seeking a Staff Writer to join our newsroom to cover one of the most critical roles in the American education system—school leaders.
Education Week seeks an experienced and versatile journalist who is passionate about covering public education—especially the nation’s corps of principals, assistant principals, and other school-level administrators responsible for overseeing the daily teaching and learning in our public education system. This journalist should have a track record of high productivity and the ability to build a robust network of sources. They must be able to juggle a mix of longer national trend pieces with daily stories, quick-turnaround pieces based on news developments, case studies of successful practice, and solutions-oriented coverage relevant to and useful for principals and other education leaders. The candidate must be skilled at spotting big developments in education policy and practice and explaining with accuracy and authority how it will impact school leaders.
