Looking for a change of pace in a new environment? The Elko Daily Free Press is seeking a versatile reporter to help us serve readers in Northeastern Nevada. Just 3 hours west of Salt Lake city, and 20 minutes away from the scenic Ruby Mountains, Elko is known for its vast outdoor recreation areas, thriving gold mining industry and a rural but dynamic lifestyle.

As part of our small but ambitious staff, you’ll hustle to break news on our web and mobile platforms, while pursuing in-depth enterprise reports. This position covers all sorts of different stories, from breaking news to in-depth stories that examine important issues in the community.

The ideal candidate will have an inquisitive mind, sharp writing skills and an appreciation for life in a small town. Photo and social media skills would be a plus. The ability to produce timely reports in today’s instant digital news environment is a must. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field and experience in multi-media journalism is preferred. New graduates are welcome to apply.
