Forbes is looking for an organized and energetic News SEO Content Strategist to join the SEO team in our Jersey City, NJ, office. The position, reporting into the Sr Manager of SEO & Content Strategy, will work closely with our newsroom editors and our explainers desk. The ideal candidate must be able to act quickly to support optimization of breaking news & live coverages. They need to identify opportunities and pitch content ideas based on trending topics to our explainers team. The News SEO Strategist should possess a good understanding of the news media landscape to find opportunities to grow and experiment. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of audience analytics and be able to communicate best practices to our newsroom team(s).

What You'll Do:
Collaborate closely with fellow newsroom team members to identify search-driven story prospects aimed at expanding Forbes audience.
Identify & pitch new coverage opportunities by search trend analysis to identify gaps in emerging topics.
Work closely with newsroom staffers to optimize daily stories & provide real-time headline optimization
Pitch story ideas and perform trends research to identify and prioritize which stories and topics our editors and staff writers should cover/update to meet our readers’ needs in the moments they need the information most.
Train our newsroom staff on SEO best practices & how to optimize news stories and timely explainers for search, honing in on the importance of page titles, headlines, internal links, and meta descriptions.
Provide feedback to our newsroom by analyzing the performance of our stories
Prepare in advance for significant, future events and collaborate with editors to develop comprehensive coverage strategies.
Provide real-time trends analysis during major developing events
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (technical or analytical field a plus).
2-4 years of experience in SEO, experience using tools such as SEMrush, Google Trends, News SEO Tools.
Experience with paywalls a plus
Publisher experience & previous involvement in a news team in related edit or audience role.
Experience conducting keyword research and Trends analysis with Google Trends as well as other tools to monitor real-time trends in news.
A strong understanding of Google’s news algorithm and the key factors that can impact visibility in news search results.
Strong writing skills, editorial judgment and communication skills.
Team player with all-hands-on-deck attitude and an entrepreneurial mind-set.
A willingness to experiment, iterate, innovate, and fail quickly.
The annual base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000
