The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is seeking a digital sports reporter who is responsible for writing, compiling and/or producing lightning-fast stories about breaking sports news. The reporter will drive the conversation online. From reporting on a sideline conversation among top players, to compiling social media comments on a 99-yard Cowboys run in the fourth quarter, to sharing the social media reactions when a coach is fired - this is your playing field. If Mark Cuban or Jerry Jones says something crazy or Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban get into another verbal battle, you’re on it. The job requires a nimble reporter who will also contribute enterprise stories and have free rein to cover any topic that impacts the Star-Telegram readership. High schools, colleges and professional sports across Texas all fall within this reporter’s purview. You’ll be part of an agile reporting team and assist with coverage of the likes of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Christian University Horned Frogs and other high school, college and professional teams in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The reporter’s goal: increase the Star-Telegram’s digital audience through stories that have impact and can't be found elsewhere in a crowded media marketplace.
