Fortune is seeking a talented editor to lead our Wealth coverage. This editor will report to our Executive Editor for Enterprise reporting, Lee Clifford.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable writing as well as assigning and editing compelling service pieces, quick hit news stories, longer analysis pieces, profiles and Q&As, and magazine stories that help our readers make the most of their money.]

You will:
Be well sourced with wealth managers, family offices, HNW individuals, retirement advisors, tax planners, investment advisors.
Have a flair for finding intriguing stories that engage readers, and a top-notch ability to write headlines and display copy that stand out.
Be able to spot trends ahead of competitors and deliver readers highly sophisticated, actionable advice.
Have your finger on the pulse of the markets and know what questions readers are grappling with right now.
In addition you will:
Be able to show an impressive track record of writing and editing stories about Wealth for a sophisticated audience.
Enjoy constantly networking with CEOs, executives and sources.
Be comfortable assigning, editing, and jumping in to write stories as needed.
Appear on stage at Fortune events to interview industry leaders.
Consistently generate story ideas.
Be comfortable juggling a mixture of stories, working on tight deadlines, and pursuing original reporting in a fast-paced newsroom.
Be able to work closely with the managing editor to recruit and hire a team of reporters to help build Wealth coverage for the newsroom.
You have:
At least 5 years of full-time newsroom experience, preferably in a similar role.
A digital-first mindset and voracious reading habits.
Interest in Wealth coverage and the desire to define the beat.
The ability to work quickly and collaboratively as part of a tight-knit, fast-paced team.

Location: This role will be based in NYC. There will be a minimum of 5 days/week in the office.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000. This range is a good faith estimate and may ultimately vary based on a number of relevant factors.
