Bismarck Correspondent

Forum News Service is hiring a Bismarck correspondent to cover the North Dakota Legislature and state politics.

The ideal candidate will be smart, positive and eager to work as an unbiased watchdog. This correspondent will produce work on state government, North Dakota’s Congressional delegation, business, and trends affecting people and communities in North Dakota.

The right candidate will have strong knowledge of state and federal government issues, public policy, open records laws and the economy.

They also will embrace creative multimedia storytelling and be eager to produce engaging news, features and enterprise work for a digital audience.

The ideal candidate should have experience writing for a newspaper, website, magazine or similar publication. A journalism or communications degree is helpful, though equivalent experience will be considered.

The Bismarck-Mandan metro area is the second largest population center in North Dakota. The Missouri River runs between the two cities, which are a regional hub for business, industry and policy. The city boasts numerous historical attractions, a vibrant downtown, diverse dining and nightlife choices, and numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation.
