Managing Editor
FOX 13, the Fox Television Stations Owned & Operated duopoly in Seattle, seeks a Managing Editor to run the daily editorial newsgathering in our newsroom. The person filling this position will be a key member of the management team. They will come to the table with successful management experience and a deep background in digital and broadcast journalism. The Managing Editor will provide strategic direction and leadership in developing and executing the station’s news coverage.
The Managing Editor is the principal daily news content manager in the newsroom. They will lead newsgathering efforts to distribute content on our digital platforms and linear broadcast news programs. They will be the primary “handoff” liaison – ensuring early morning content is carried into the dayside timeframe, and setting up the nightside crew for success each evening. This individual will work closely with field reporters to develop their stories, and coach them in highly ethical, strategic reporting, especially in the digital space.
The Managing Editor will work closely with the VP News Director and Assistant News Director in larger projects that include digital strategy, news coverage planning, and staff development. We are looking for a dynamic and visionary leader with at least 10 years of experience in journalism, digital storytelling and/or newsroom management. This individual will have a regular schedule but should understand that the news business is a 24/7 world, and they could be called upon for extra coverage or shifts to accommodate breaking news, major event coverage, or holiday/vacation relief. A college degree is preferred, and a valid ID and driver’s license is required.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $135,000.00-140,000.00 annually for Washington. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
