Paperless Post is seeking a witty copywriting freelancer to write, copy edit, and proofread playful, engaging copy for our digital invitations and greeting cards. We are looking for someone who can span a stylistic range from casual, pithy copy to longer form formal wording. This will include writing sample and static copy for new invitations and greetings, naming new invitation and greeting designs, and supporting other copy needs. Copy is an integral part of all of our products, bringing to life our designs and helping our users convey meaningful messages to their guests and recipients. This contractor will be responsible to our Content Project Manager within our Content & Merchandising team.

The Assignment

Write clever and unique user-facing names for new Cards and Flyers, collaborating with our SEO lead to ensure that names are optimized for search
Create new sample copy sets for invitations and greetings following our brand copy guidelines
Participate in brainstorms and other idea-generating sessions as needed
Complete special projects as they arise—examples may include writing search-optimized descriptions for key products, proofreading materials written by the Content team, naming images and text effects, etc.

Commitment

Commitment of approximately 1 hour of daily work, 5 days per week. Work would be passed to you at noon ET each day, with the completed task due at 9 a.m. ET the following day, Monday through Friday (with Friday submissions due Monday at 9 a.m. ET).
At least 1 hour per week should overlap with our regular business hours (Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET) for collaboration, i.e. to discuss projects, feedback, and participate in brainstorming sessions.
Ideally, someone would have the flexibility to take on additional special projects which would be scoped and discussed ahead of time. Special projects would likely have longer lead times and more flexibility around completion.

The ideal candidate should have

3+ years of experience writing engaging, consumer-facing copy for e-commerce, social media, mobile, or other digital media
Scrupulous proofreading, writing, and copy-editing skills
The ability to translate cultural fluency (music, pop culture, current events) into punchy headlines, captions, and other customer-facing communications
Flexibility regarding writing styles, formats, and tones to support a wide audience and range of subject matter
The propensity to derive joy from finding the perfect wording
An editorial eye, a creative imagination, and a collaborative spirit
Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills

The compensation range for this role is $38-50 per hour (based on portfolio and experience).
