Freelance Lifestyle Writers

Seven Magazine is searching for experienced freelance writers to contribute to our new lifestyle publication (digital and print). As a contributing writer, you will be expected to pitch ideas for approval and create medium to long form articles with a focus on lifestyle-related topics including fashion, theatre, food, music, travel, interior design, art, architecture, automotive, sex and sensuality. Seven Magazine will include adult content crafted tastefully. We aim to be edgy and challenging; consequently, our contributing writers and photographers should not be faint of heart but creative thinkers with an interest in stories told in your unique voice.

You should be accustomed to working to tight deadlines. We expect that you have previous writing experience and will share samples of your work, published or otherwise

As a guide, we are looking for stories that run from 1,200 to 3,000 words. We pay our contributors per published word. All stories are subject to being edited.

Freelance Writer Responsibilities:

Pitch a story to Seven’s editor & publisher.
If successful, draft your story and agree to provide copy to a pre-agreed deadline.
We will not publish stories that have been published elsewhere.
If you have images you feel will support/enhance your story, you are encouraged to submit these. It’s understood that these are unique to you and that you hold copyright over them.
Images will be paid for at a mutually-agreed rate
The agreed rate for copy and images will cover reproduction in the print magazine and/or online at the editor and publisher’s discretion.
It will be at the editor’s discretion if submitted work is returned to the author for review prior to publication.

Submitted images must meet Seven’s technical guidelines to ensure a quality standard is maintained for reproduction in print and online.

The Seven Magazine Story

Typically, magazines that talk about sex and sensuality place themselves in a corner of the library, far away from polite company. Shame really, when you think how important our sex life, relationships and mental health are. We think it’s time to remove the blinkers and talk openly about the things that motivate and inspire us and, for some, make us feel uncomfortable.

Seven Magazine is buying into the conversation. Our way is to take stories we all know about and shape them to fit our preferred narrative. We are, at heart, a lifestyle magazine. In each edition - whether our quarterly print edition or our online magazine (www.sevenmagazine.co) - we will canvas a range of interests from fashion, architecture and music, to food, automotive, theatre, interior design, travel, the fine (and not so fine) arts, politics and everything in between.
