Agenda, a Financial Times publication for directors on corporate boards, is seeking a reporter to join its team of talented and motivated journalists. Reporting for Agenda is an opportunity to write for an audience of highly influential decision-makers at some of the largest and best-known U.S. companies.

The reporter will join a team of six skilled journalists and contribute to the publication’s high standards of editorial excellence. We seek team players who thrive in a work environment that offers collegiality and support.

This position is based in the offices of the Financial Times, near the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City. We offer a hybrid working environment with two in-office days each week.

Duties

You will be expected to develop an in-depth knowledge of corporate governance and the workings of corporate boards. The ideal candidate will have experience reporting for a niche audience and a desire to develop expertise within their specific beat.

This role also requires a desire to move beyond the headlines and dig deep into the intricacies of board committee-level decision making and analysis. Candidates should be comfortable digging through annual reports, proxy forms and other SEC filings and working with numbers and data to ferret out trends and stories others may overlook. You will work the phones and build a deep source network.

You will be expected to produce two in-depth and well-researched feature stories every two weeks for our main issue, as well as punchy news stories for our weekly Briefing issue. There are also opportunities to work on longer research-driven pieces quarterly and to contribute to other editorial projects, including video interviews, webcasts and other regular features.

The role may involve occasional travel to conferences.

Qualifications/Attributes

Knowledge and reporting experience of corporate governance is desirable, but not essential.
Demonstrated news judgment and the ability to report for a specific niche audience.
Experience generating compelling analysis, enterprise story ideas and other content that distinguishes a publication.
Attention to detail and strong writing skills.
