Wealth Management Writer/Editor

New Posted 15 September 2023 | London, England, United Kingdom; Hybrid | Financial Times

We are looking for an experienced writer/editor to produce, commission, and curate articles for the FT’s new Wealth Management content hub, launching in Q4 of 2023.

This exciting new project will bring together editorial content on wealth management and financial services from four sources within the company: the Financial Times, Professional Wealth Management (FT Specialist), Asset Allocator (part of FT Adviser in FT Specialist) and Nikkei Asia.

Its aim will be - for the first time - to showcase our editorial content for both wealth management clients and industry professionals, in one place.

The writer/editor’s role will be to coordinate and publish 12 pieces of editorial content per month - three from each of the four sources - writing the three pieces of content from the Financial Times, and commissioning and editing the nine from the other publications.

As a result, you will need to demonstrate a good knowledge of the industry, strong ideas generation, an ability to collaborate with other editorial teams (across geographies), as well as proven organisational skills.

The role represents an expansion of - and an opportunity to work alongside - the FT’s existing financial services team, and will involve liaising with the Companies and Markets desks in London and colleagues across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

You will be expected to provide agenda-setting coverage of the key topics in wealth management, from ESG investing principles, to digital assets, private capital, and tax and succession planning. When covering them, you will need to be able to explain the key issues to FT readers around the world, in different jurisdictions.

Working closely with the editors of FT Project Publishing, FT Wealth magazine, PWM, Financial Adviser and the head of business of Nikkei Asia, the successful candidate will help to bring the group’s wealth management coverage to a much wider audience.

In addition, there will be opportunities to contribute further content to FT Wealth magazine and the FT’s news output.

Key duties:

Co-ordinating and publishing 12 pieces of wealth management content per month, including a mix of exclusive interviews, original features and news analyses.

Cooperating effectively with colleagues at the FT, PWM, Financial Adviser and Nikkei Asia.

Writing on wealth management and financial services topics across all digital platforms.

Sourcing and processing industry data.

Producing simple charts and collaborating with the Visual and Data journalism team on bigger explainers.

Engaging the FT’s wealth management audience through social media and interactive content.

Taking on weekend shifts as required by the team rota.

What we are looking for

A proven ability to report, write and edit longer, well-structured pieces as well as rapid, accurate news stories.

An ability to grasp complex financial, tax and regulatory issues that cross jurisdictions;

Comfortable collaborating with editors and correspondents.

Knowledge of banking and financial services is a strong advantage.

Please submit your application by the end of the day, September 28 2023.
