The USA TODAY NETYWORK, Gannett,Video Production Center(VPC)is looking for a Video Producer of Trending video who can find, write, produce, and collaborate with writers around trending(primarily UGC)video content for USA TODAY as well as Gannett’s local properties across the country.
This Video Producer will work closely with USA TODAY’s large network of National and Local Trending reporters to find and produce trending video content found on social platformsor from third-partypartners. The producer will secure video rights, write video scripts, conduct interviews produce video packages, coordinate with video editors and collaborate with reporters to publish complete news videos to local and national properties.
The Video Producer will pitch daily story ideas that will grab the attention of audiences across Gannett owned properties as well as social media. This candidate should also be capable of suggesting visually compelling ways to tell the stories. Strong interviewing and AP stylebook writing skills are a must.
The Video Producer should be familiar with video editing in Adobe Premiere or web-based video editing software like Wochit.
The Video Producer must have editorial newsroom experiencewhere curating, producing and publishing news content was expected. Experience writing meta data as well as SEO strategies are vital in this role.This candidate will be familiar with analytics platforms such as Parse.ly and Google Analytics as well as social platform analytics. Social media management experience is a plus.
This is a position that requires a self-starter who is motivated and competitive. Thorough communication within and across teams is important.
Finally, thiscandidate should have the flexibility to work an early morning shift, possible weekends and occasional overtime as news events require.
Our preference is candidates who are near Washington, DC, Atlanta or New York City, but remote workers in all states except for Alaska and Hawaii will be considered.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for executing trending video production including writing, researching, collaborating, coordinating logistics, technical production, and video editing.
Curate stories from around the local newspaper network and/or nation-wide sources.
Collaborate with USA TODAY Network of reporters, writers, producers, editors, and digital managers, to coordinate video requests and ideas.
Responsible for keeping track of trending videoperformance metrics for on platform, mobile, and app video view reporting on a daily, monthly, and as needed basis.
FollowAP style writing andSEO best practices.
Communicate with UGC video owners and third party partners to fulfill trending video content needs.
Handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+years of professional experience, including producing experience and 3-5 years of digital experience.
Strong editorial experience.
Experience working in a newsroom.
Experience producing video content for digital platforms.
Understanding of digital media platforms, OTT platforms and social media including YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
Experience with copyright and rights management issues.
Experience implementing SEO best practices and writing metadata for videos.
Strong Editorial decision-making skills.
Writing and Producing skills for digital and social video platform.
Excellent communications skills, online and in person, with the community and fellow journalists.
Works collaboratively with a passionate and highly motivated team of videographers, reporters, editors and producers.
Experience using After Effects, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop is preferred.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $36,281 and $87,328. Variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and union representation, if applicable.
