Do you have a natural curiosity? A soft spot for the underdogs of the world? How about Small Town, U.S.A.? Any underlying authority issues? Well, you've found the right job.
We're seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, courageous, self-motivated reporter to complete our newsroom. The ideal candidate will be prepared to cover anything and everything, with help every step of the way from an editor with plenty of experience guiding.
Our publication is a new weekly in Morgan County, Ind., with a sole focus on local news. Despite the familiar mantra that "print is dead," we are going against the grain and putting the "paper" back into the local newspaper. Our primary focus is on a strong print product, though we have a website and social media presence, too. But screen fatigue is real, and in communities like ours, people still want their newspapers. Better yet, science is on our side (Google "readability study — print vs. digital" and be amazed, despite what you've been told at j-school).
Our publication has already captured the zeitgeist of this community, and we're here for it. This job will not entail fame and fortune, but we can promise adventure, excitement and a behind-the-curtain experience of the true impact a local newspaper can have on a community. We are here to serve, and to retighten the threads of the community fabric through strong, community journalism.
