The Glenwood Springs Post Independent is seeking its next editor to lead its newsroom. Leads planning and oversees execution of a multi-platform content strategy that drives audience engagement;

Specific duties include:
Overseeing, managing and leading a team of reporters, community contributors and freelancers
Hiring, directing and evaluating all newsroom employees
Developing full understanding of editorial procedure, goals and operations
Developing full understanding of all production procedures for all papers
Developing full understanding of all press and distribution functions
Being a primary community contact for the paper through civic groups, social functions, etc.
Being available to answer questions and helping solve problems for all employees
Working under direction of Publisher
Participating in strategic planning processes
Keeping newsroom operating within budget
Qualifications:
Advanced journalism training
Management experience
Great people and communication skills
Crisis management and problem-solving techniques
Team development, organizational and planning skills
Must be available some nights and weekends
Bachelor¹s degree or equivalent experience is required
Five years of experience in journalism is preferred
Full-time, Salary $75,000-$80,000 DOE
