Summary/Objective
The Grant Writer will participate in the strategic planning, prospecting, writing, and submission for grants. This position is responsible for all phases of grant development, evaluation, and compliance, including research, pre-award grant writing, the coordination of grant applications, post-award support for grant-funded projects, managing the grant reporting process, and successfully closing out grant projects with final budget and report outcomes to stakeholders. The Grant Writer will research and pursue prospective public and private funding sources. This position will coordinate with other stakeholders internally and externally as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs internal reviews of institutional needs, collects and gathers program data, and assesses the feasibility of obtaining external funding for project and program proposals
Investigates local, state, federal, private, foundation, and corporate sources of funds. This includes reviewing materials, listservs, 990s, and other resources pertinent to understanding an entity's giving desire.
Assists with developing and maintaining an internal grant application process
Develops and maintains a grant management system for funded grants that includes report due dates, budget adherence, and any other grant requirements
Develops and maintains a library of information on funding sources, grant writing, and data relevant to ThriveDX, and partners’, programs and services
Collaborates with internal, and possibly external partner, personnel to gather input for all projects and comply with requests for data and other information
Coordinates, develops, and processes grant applications from conceptual to submission stage while working closely with ThriveDX staff throughout all phases
Manages multiple projects and priorities including searching for funding sources, writing proposals, managing existing grants, reporting to stakeholders, and working on special projects
Cultivates a network of dedicated donors and grant partnerships, and form strong relationships with external stakeholders
Oversee preparation of grant proposals, conducts a final review in conjunction with the VP for Economic and Partnership Initiatives and any entity partnering on the grant, and ensure timely submission of grant or funding request
Maintain accurate records of past and present grant opportunities, deadlines, and proposals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Grant Writing
Has experience in the grant writing field (required), with at least 3 years of experience in writing high-quality grant applications desired.
Has a history of discovering, composing, and winning federal, state, and local grants and/or funding opportunities
Experience in writing grant applications in relation to cybersecurity, workforce development, and adult learning projects a plus
GPC certification desired but not required
Experience with business development desired but not required
