The Graphic Printing Company, which operates The Commercial Review (Portland), The News-Gazette (Winchester) and The News Times (Hartford City) in east central Indiana, is looking for an energetic, motivated, passionate sports journalist to join its team.
Our next sports reporter will work as part of a sports team that covers 10 area high schools across five counties for our publications. You will also continue to follow local athletes who are competing at the college level and write about area club sports and activities.
This job includes game/event coverage, feature writing, column writing, photography and some page design. (Photography and page design experience are not required.)
The Graphic Printing Company's flagship paper, The Commercial Review, has proven to be an excellent training ground for young journalists and has a long track record of awards from the Hoosier State Press Association. In our first year of ownership of The News-Gazette and The News Times, our papers won a combined 36 awards in the state journalism contest.
The candidate we are seeking will have writing experience covering sports at the collegiate and/or professional level. College students who will graduate in May 2025 are encouraged to apply.
Salary range is $25,000 to $27,500 for a 35-hour work week with some paid overtime expected.
