Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Technical Editor, we'll count on you to:

Edit technical reports and other deliverables to ensure appropriate and consistent spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, hyphenation, and format.
Ensure that deliverables are clear and concise and contain a variety of sentence complexity.
Determine whether text fits together as a coherent document, whether the report is organized in a logical manner, and whether all necessary information is included and unnecessary information is deleted.
Evaluate whether the use of technical terms is appropriate for the intended audience.
Unify voice when multiple authors are contributing to a document.
Interact with authors as needed to clarify meaning and ensure that sources are cited appropriately.
Ensure compliance with corporate editorial style, branding, and template standards.
Develop in-house style guides and templates that address the needs of our unique clients.
Ensure the accurate preparation and presentation of print and electronic deliverables in MS Word and Adobe Acrobat for publication.
Assist multiple project managers and subject matter experts on a daily basis.
Work under minimal supervision and meet compressed deadlines.
Maintain a positive, helpful attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related field.
3+ years of copy editing or technical editing experience, preferably in an engineering or scientific industry.
Advanced editing and writing skills with precise attention to detail.
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical staff.
Ability to research and interpret technical concepts and data.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience editing engineering, environmental, and/or regulatory reports highly preferred.
Preference given to local candidates
