Healthcare/Business/Education Reporter

The Union newspaper in Grass Valley, California, is seeking a reporter to cover the health care, business and education beats. We’re a small, community newspaper that seeks to report news important to our readers in western Nevada County. While this reporter will be responsible for their beats, they’re not limited to them. Reporters are encouraged to branch out into enterprise and investigative pieces that tell the story of the people who live and work here. Reporters will have a Sunday cops shift about once every three weeks. Some evening and holiday work are also required. The Union is one of the oldest, most respected newspapers in California. It strives to deliver impactful journalism that seeks to hold authority accountable and strengthen the bonds of our communities – in whatever media form the story best dictates. We need an ambitious storyteller who can turn a phrase, shoot an image, edit a video and send a tweet — all on deadline.
