MLB News Writer

Heavy, a leading sports news and information website, is expanding its coverage in Major League Baseball. We're looking to partner with hard-charging, entrepreneurial freelance contributors to write about the most exciting storylines around the MLB.

Compatible candidates are rare, but successful contributors should be able to demonstrate:

A passion for and deep understanding of MLB and its Tier 1 clubs (Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, Phillies)
Proven ability to vet, verify and confirm information
Ability to produce clean and polished copy
A track record of professional sports coverage (baseball preferred)
Ability and desire to react rapidly to on-and-off-field breaking news
Strong multi-tasking and communication skills
Ability to quickly navigate social media to spot news and find additional information after a story breaks

Work autonomously and remotely. Heavy's editors are available for support but do not make assignments.

Compensation includes a monthly $500 retainer, and scales with performance.
