Hemmings is seeking a creative, dynamic writer to play a key part in our ongoing digital expansion. Candidates will create content surrounding the collector car marketplace, notable vehicle sales, vehicle values, buyer’s guides, car features, key vehicle builders, event coverage, etc.
This person must be able to work independently, write clean and entertaining daily copy, and be proficient with editing, researching, and writing at all stages of story production. This person should also be able to adapt to changing priorities as we continue to refine our editorial strategy.
This position is open to remote work, and some specifics of the job will be dictated by that location. Detroit, Los Angeles, and other cities with a vibrant car scene and connections to the automotive industry are preferred, but the right candidate can be successful in this role from any location
Skills & Experience
Job Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years producing and editing content.
Familiarity with the automotive enthusiast realm, including the collector car market.
Experience working with a team effectively and efficiently to produce editorial content.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or similar image-editing programs.
Familiarity with social media platforms and strategy as well as web analytics is a plus.
Job Duties:
Create daily engaging digital automotive content
Work alongside Marketplace team to support growth
Travel to automotive events, auctions, and trade shows and provide same-day editorial coverage including photography.
Communicate and coordinate with the print editorial team
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of, and passion for, specialty and performance cars from a wide variety of manufacturers and countries of origin.
Proficiency in online publishing, including experience with web-based CMS systems as well as basic HTML knowledge and photo-editing skills.
Ability to write content within multiple, ongoing deadlines.
Familiarity with AP style and a willingness to learn Hemmings style for specific details on automobiles and associated terms.
Resource and time management skills to coordinate with other staff members and produce content on a schedule.
Some experience with digital photography and videography.
Willingness to travel as needed.
