What’s my job?

Located in our Melbourne office, we are looking for a Home and Lifestyle Editor. In this role, you will shape Howatson+Company’s key client, Myer’s home and lifestyle storytelling across digital platforms, bringing creativity, cultural relevance, and strategic insight to the way we engage audiences. Reporting to the Head of Content Strategy, you’ll help define the voice of home and lifestyle at Myer, curating compelling content that resonates with both Australian and global audiences. With a deep understanding of interior trends, home styling, and digital storytelling—especially across Instagram and TikTok—you’ll be responsible for ideating, writing, and managing home and lifestyle-driven content that drives engagement, brand love, and business outcomes.

A Day in the Life:

Craft and Curate Home and Lifestyle Stories

Develop and write high-impact home and lifestyle content for Myer’s digital channels, ensuring every piece aligns with the brand’s tone, audience interests, and commercial goals.
Create engaging, social-first home content, including trend-driven TikTok scripts, in-depth styling guides, entertaining ideas, and compelling Instagram captions.
Identify emerging home and lifestyle trends both locally and globally, and translate them into content opportunities that position Myer as an authoritative voice in home and lifestlye.
Bring fresh, strategic ideas to the table, helping to shape Myer’s home content franchises, seasonal décor campaigns, and lifestyle features.
Leverage expert advice and industry knowledge from interior designers and stylists to inform content direction and bring authority to storytelling.

Lead Social-First Content Creation

Take ownership of Myer’s home and lifestyle content across social media channels, ensuring it stays fresh, relevant, and ahead of trends.
Ideate, produce, and publish engaging home content tailored to Instagram, TikTok, and other emerging platforms.
Actively participate in Myer’s social presence, conceptualising new ways to interact with audiences, whether it's through behind-the-scenes home makeovers, seasonal décor tutorials, or expert-led entertaining guides.
Work closely with the content team to ensure home, fashion, beauty, and lifestyle stories feel cohesive across platforms.

Strategic Execution & Performance Tracking

Translate the overarching content strategy into actionable home content that strengthens Myer’s cultural relevance and business performance.
Oversee the posting and scheduling of home and lifestyle content, ensuring seamless execution across digital channels.
Use analytics tools (Google Analytics, social dashboards, performance metrics) to track content success and refine strategies accordingly.
Experiment with new content formats like Shoppable, Live styling, or BTS videos, to deepen engagement and drive conversions.

Collaboration & Ideation

Work closely with internal teams including marketing, e-commerce, photography, and design to align content with Myer’s wider home and lifestyle campaigns.
Collaborate with external creatives, from interior stylists and to lifestyle influencers, ensuring high-quality home storytelling.
Bring fresh, disruptive ideas to brainstorms, helping to craft content plans that respond to cultural home moments and audience needs.
Contribute to integrated campaigns, working with the broader content team to ensure Myer’s home, fashion, beauty, and lifestyle narratives feel unified.
