The Current is searching for a Host/Producer to co-host The Morning Show and produce features, segments, promos, sessions, and interviews. Working with The Current’s programming team, the Host/Producer will spend 50 percent of their time ensuring the content from mornings on The Current reaches audiences via broadcast and digital channels. In addition to producing content, they will be responsible for co-hosting on The Morning Show, voice-tracking shifts, and conducting interviews. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of The Current’s playlist and a passion for music discovery.

Compensation Range: $69,500 - $83,400/yr. Exact salary determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure and internal equity.
Position Responsibility:
Voice and perform live and voice tracked segments, sweepers, promotional messages, or breaks in studio or at remote locations.
Research and propose show topics and screen show ideas.
Plan, coordinate, produce, and host broadcasts (which may include live and live-remote broadcasts)
Prepare for and conduct interviews with musicians and other guests.
Work with the programming team and morning show host to:
coordinate daily and weekly production elements.
research music news, history segments, and Coffee Break topics.
book guests, coordinate calendar, and secure studio time for recording and production.
edit and transcribe audio using various existing and emerging production tools.
create and modify show rundowns in play-to-air systems.
research and propose show topics and source guests.
publish features and social media posts.
stay current with local, regional, national and international music news.
help plan coverage based on calendars and upcoming music events.
direct shows, including writing promos and scripts, editing, and coordinating timing.
Produce and edit in-studio performances, interviews, podcasts and other audio as needed.
Ensure the Morning Show content meets MPR content guidelines, standards, and complies with FCC regulations.
Maintain relationships with technical staff, audio engineers and other departments.
Understand and comply with FCC Broadcast Regulations, including operating broadcast equipment.
Participate in the promotion of Minnesota Public Radio through public appearances and on-air fundraising activities.
Work with a cross functional team to ensure MPR meets deliverables for collaborations, partnerships, and underwriting clients.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
3-5 years radio production or equivalent broadcasting experience.
Experience in audio production and digital audio editing.
Experience writing for radio.

In depth knowledge of the music heard on The Current and a strong sense of the musical direction the sound of the station seeks to create and maintain.

Interpersonal skills, including ability to deal with a variety of individuals, such as audience, guests, hosts, and other MPR staff.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office with ability to learn new applications upon request.
Ability to work under daily deadline pressure and keep track of on-going projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of current events and sources for researching popular and indie music trends.
Ability to work independently and make news judgments with some supervision.
Developing ability to discern who would communicate well on the radio.
Exercises independent judgement and makes informed content choices inline with the goals and guidelines set by the programming team.
Knowledge of digital editing software and content management systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience using ENPS or equivalent
Experience using Music Master or equivalent
Digital editing: ProTools, or equivalent
Digital and social media experience is a plus
