COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, List Visual Arts Center , to create and disseminate clear, credible, and relevant information that promotes a favorable view of the museum to internal and external audiences. Will perform--with minimal supervision--complex and diverse communication and development functions while managing a small team for effective implementation and analysis. The primary areas of focus will be institutional communications, development communications, and managing press outreach. Secondary responsibilities include providing support with museum fundraising activities and events. Will report to the associate director, work collaboratively with curatorial and education staff, and have direct supervision of the marketing coordinator and many outside vendors.
REQUIRED : bachelor’s degree; at least four years’ experience; excellent administrative, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, writing, communication, and copy-editing skills; judgment and discretion with confidential information; advanced-level computer skills in a MacIntosh environment, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Illustrator; basic programming ability for sending emails through MailChimp or other email marketing tools; database management skills, including familiarity with the Cision database tool; and ability to learn new software programs as needed. Seek a self-starter who demonstrates initiative and is able to multitask, set and manage competing priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and interact effectively with museum visitors and donors. PREFERRED : knowledge of and interest in contemporary art; familiarity with the Boston art world and national and international arts patrons and press landscape; and knowledge of the MIT environment and the List Visual Arts Center.
