AR/VR Reporter

New Posted 17 November 2022 | San Francisco or New York | The Information

We’re looking for a reporter to write about the fast-developing world of augmented reality and virtual reality. This reporter would lead our Reality Check newsletter and contribute journalism to all areas of The Information. As Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Snap and soon Apple have demonstrated—releasing headsets and AR glasses—this industry is one of intense focus for big tech companies, as well as many other firms, from Sony to ByteDance. It’s likely to be the next technology platform, eventually taking over from smartphones. Writing about AR/VR offers an enterprising reporter the opportunity to delve into details of the new technology, to scrutinize the business dynamics underpinning that technology as well as the social questions that AR/VR raise. We launched Reality Check in the spring of last year and it quickly became one of our most popular newsletters. You’ll have the freedom to shape the newsletter, with the opportunity to go deep both on what individual developers are up to as well as the progress made by big tech companies. The successful candidate will have three years of experience writing about AR/VR, preferably both from a technology and a business perspective, and a demonstrated ability to break news. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with passion for AR/VR.
