About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced digital writer to work part-time (2 days a week) as a Digital Journalist on the parenting website MadeForMums. You’ll be responsible for creating, editing and commissioning a fast flow of original and engaging content (articles, reviews, shopping guides, social activity, newsletters, video, graphics and more) on this innovative digital brand, and ensuring that our content reaches an increasing audience across all of our channels.

At MadeForMums we help parents make confident choices – whether it's what to buy, what to do or what you need to know – and do so with a unique voice and personality. You’ll need to be organised, have an eye for detail, a passion for accuracy, sharp journalistic instincts and an ability to learn quickly. Some video editing and/or social media experience would be helpful. You’ll also need to be adaptable and to love working as part of a close, friendly team.

This position may suit a parent looking to work part-time and experience in parenting would be helpful. But it’s not essential: what matters more is a desire to develop a deep understanding of our audience and how to meet their needs.

As a Digital Journalist you will;

Create, edit and update high-performing pregnancy and parenting content, under the guidance of the Head of Content Delivery, ensuring the content is accurate, meets the brief and is consistent with MadeForMums brand values and voice
Create, edit and update high-performing consumer content, under the guidance of the Head of Consumer Content, ensuring the content is content is accurate, meets the brief and is consistent with MadeForMums brand values and voice
Create alone or with other team members video, images, audio and copy that can be used both on the main site and on our social media and other content channels
Meet personal traffic, affiliate and productivity targets for content and social media
Use analytics tools to understand and increase user engagement and grow traffic to meet your own and team's target
Attend occasional press launches and consumer shows, when needed, to support MadeForMums’ product awards programs
Occasionally commission freelancers to create additional content
Check, edit and upload freelance content onto our CMS (Wordpress based)
Create content to meet the needs of the commercial team and marketing partners
Responsibility for other editorial duties when requested, such as competitions, mail-outs, editorial admin, PR coordination, user queries and more

Requirements

Strong digital journalism skills including writing for mobile audiences, social, SEO and understanding of affiliate links
Very keen eye for detail
Strong language and grammar skills
Experience of video editing
Good visual eye, preferably with PhotoShop skills
Experience of using analytics tools such as Google Analytics
Good time management and organisational skills
Accomplished communication skills both in writing and speech
Ability to self-organise amid fast-changing priorities
Ability to learn fast and build upon the ideas of others
Interest in the parenting market
