Pitches (Free Expression)

Pitch please! It’s the start of another Index Censorship magazine cycle, so journos from across the world, get your ideas in my inbox. Here’s a thread on what I’m looking for:

I’d like ideas for reported and comment pieces, linked with freedom of expression. I love hearing from journalists on the ground, or very closely connected with the places they’re writing about.
Top tips:
- Pitch me a story, not a theme, and be specific (I get a lot of pitches about general media freedoms).
- Make me care about it.
- Who will you speak to? What’s new?
- Please take a look at our website or previous issues before you pitch.

Let me know a little about you, and send some links to your best work. We pay writers, and I’m happy to chat about rates via email before you pitch. Please don’t send me pitches in DMs. If you need a more secure method of communication, feel free to ask.
