Fellow, Digital Culture (JANUARY 2023)

Insider is hiring a fellow to join our digital culture team. Insider’s digital culture desk within the news division explores the ways the internet interacts with — and in many cases, creates or contributes to — the most important news stories of our time. The team reports news that captures the state of the online world; fearlessly investigates the dangerous or harmful uses of the internet; identifies what is slipping through the cracks of social media companies and their moderation policies; finds online communities that impact broader society; debunks conspiracy theories; and holds online creators and tech companies accountable. You will report to the senior digital culture editor. The ideal candidate is excited about a breadth of topics, and has a solid grasp of the issues and debates surrounding digital spaces and platforms. You should be a self-starter who has a passion for finding and telling great stories. We value flexibility, creativity, accountability, and a diversity of ideas and opinions.
