Insider is hiring a head of newsroom operations and strategy to join our editorial team to be a key partner to the Global Editor-in-Chief in envisioning and building the newsroom of Insider’s future – how it runs, what it covers, and how we allocate staff.

Our mission is to be the most influential and beloved journalism company for the digital generation. We cover the people, companies, and ideas changing our world. Our team members embody and uphold Insider’s three core values: we are all one team, we are effective, and we strive to get better every day.

The Role & Team:

This person will oversee newsroom strategy into the future and lead our analytics team. They will partner with finance to understand and work to optimize the return on investment Insider gets from every coverage area and dollar dedicated to it across all mediums and platforms. They will craft an annual newsroom budget and make decisions on investment and growth mid-cycle.

They are responsible for building out and managing newsroom operations to optimize for effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability.

This person partners with newsroom leaders and shares their responsibility for daily production and traffic. They think about what stories and topics attract audiences, and where and why. They are involved in both long-term strategic decisions that impact traffic, and short-term diagnostics and triaging on issues as they arise. This person is a world-class communicator who is comfortable explaining the state of both production and traffic to Insider’s executive team through memos, decks, and off-the-cuff in high-level meetings.

The Head of Newsroom Operations and Strategy reports to the Global Editor-In-Chief and works closely with the business side of the organization, acting as a liaison and partner to the President and CFO. Direct reports include the heads of newsroom analytics and operations manager.

Because this job requires fast-paced, constant collaboration, this person will be expected to work from Insider’s New York headquarters most days of the week.
