Business Insider is hiring a research and scripting fellow to join its team to work on the “Food Wars” video series, as well as its spin-offs such as “Food Tours.” This UK based fellow will start in January 2024.

The Role & Team:

The Business Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week.

As a Food Wars Fellow you will report directly to the Managing Producer of Food Wars and sit on the video team. In this role you should also be available to work from our London studios in Surrey Quays to help when shooting episodes.

Key responsibilities

Working quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
Assisting our US and UK-based “Food Wars” team to create episodes of the show.
Assisting our producers by pitching new content, researching and writing scripts for episodes
Creating scripts for a wide audience across the web and various social media platforms

The ideal candidate has:

A passion for storytelling through video, specifically about food
Experience with researching and fact-checking
Ability to write clear and clean copy for the scripts
An eye for detail and for moments that elevate videos to the next level
An interest in video production, and open to learning how to use Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop
A collaborative spirit and a willingness to learn
A commitment to fair and inclusive storytelling

Salary & Benefits:

Fellows are paid an annual salary of £24,000.
Fellows get 10 days annual leave during the 6-month period.
This position starts in Jan 2024 and requires that you work full-time for six months.
The work will be mostly remote, but will include 1 or 2 in-person shoots per week in our studio in Surrey Quays.
