UK Lifestyle Fellow (Jan 2024)
Business Insider is hiring a full-time paid editorial fellow to join our lifestyle desk in London. This UK based fellow will start in January 2024.

The Role & Team:
The Business Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week.
We're looking for someone who has a passion for reporting on a range of lifestyle topics, such as food, travel, health, fashion, beauty, home design, weddings, and royals.
The ideal candidate is excited to write stories that could vary from a visual feature on a tiny private island that’s up for sale to a post about a foolproof travel hack.
Key responsibilities
Working quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
Pitch daily story ideas and work with the assigning editor to cover the most compelling news from the world’s biggest companies
Conduct interviews and pitch feature stories, explainers, visual features, and other story formats, as required
Produce stories that are accurate, properly researched, error-free, and in line with Insider reporting standards
Hone SEO best practices and become adept at Insider’s style of headline writing
The ideal candidate has:
A background in journalism and experience working at a digital publication or within a newsroom
A keen interest in fast paced news and quick hits
A genuine interest in covering lifestyle, particularly food and travel
A knowledge of social media and SEO
A self-starter attitude and strong organisational and communication skills
A love of Insider and what we do
An interest in writing first-person stories on these topics based on your personal experience - not essential but would be a great area to lean into.
Salary & Benefits:
Fellows are paid an annual salary of £24,000.
Fellows get 10 days annual leave during the 6-month period
This position starts in Jan 2024 and requires that you work full-time for six months.
Insider is a flexible workplace when it comes to remote work, but an important part of the fellowship is being a part of the newsroom in person for learning opportunities. Fellows are asked to come into our offices in London at least two days a week.
