Morning News Writer

InStyle is looking for a freelance writer to join its beauty and style news team. The ideal candidate is an experienced digital writer with a passion for celebrity, pop culture news, and fashion. This person will pitch and write daily news stories on topics such as a royal red carpet look and celebrity relationship coverage. An ideal candidate has a strong sense of which stories will perform on search and social, the skills to spot and execute a compelling news story quickly, impeccable grammar, and the ability to self-edit in a pinch.

About Your Contributions:

Pitch and write articles for InStyle between the hours of 6 am and 12 pm ET

Monitor news outlets, social media, and photo wire services for relevant celebrity, pop culture, and fashion stories

Work closely with the InStyle editorial team to ensure news coverage matches InStyle’s tone and content guidelines.

About You:

Pitch, built, and write between 2 and 5 short-form news articles per day focused on a range of subjects, including celebrity news, red carpet fashion, and other timely pop culture topics

Apply SEO and social best practices to ensure that each article achieves its optimum performance

Work closely with InStyle editors to ensure stories are on brand and are published in a timely manner

This job is hourly and will report to InStyle’s News Director

Pay Range: $32.00/hr

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
