Investigative Reporter - Energy

The Maine Wire is seeking to hire a talented reporter with 1-5 years of experience in politics or journalism. As a political reporter, you will be responsible for writing assigned stories and identifying newsworthy developments in Maine, New England, and National politics to bring to our readers. You will be tasked with preparing written reports and contributing to multimedia platforms in both audio and video formats. The role will include both daily political coverage and longer-term investigative projects related to energy and energy policy.

Candidates must be comfortable working in a decentralized workspace (i.e. we don't have a central office) that is fast paced. Candidates must have a mastery of the English language and the ability to write to Associated Press standards. Political reporters will be tasked with covering everything from political campaigns and the State House to municipal meetings and business regulations.

Applicants must be located in Maine or willing to relocate to Maine within a pre-agreed timeframe. Candidates do not need to live in or move to Augusta, but living somewhere in Maine is a must.
