We are looking for a sharp editor who can work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT, plus two other days of the week TBD. This position carries a lot of responsibility and requires exceptional news judgment and a proven ability to work under pressure with colleagues in New York on breaking news and features and curating the homepage.
About Your Contributions:
Think creatively and plan unique story angles that will appeal to a weekend reader curious about how the news applies to their finances
Identify the most important and relevant angles on the day's top stories that explain the why, not just the what
Assign, edit, publish, and promote content independently throughout the weekend
Assist the weekday news team with editing on tight deadlines
Recruit, develop, and manage news writers
About You:
The ideal candidate is a news junkie and an experienced journalist with a history of working with well-recognized outlets on financial and business news.
4 to 6 years of experience publishing financial markets news with well-respected outlets
Strong editorial skills, including demonstrated experience line editing for content improvements, grammar, and AP style
A keen knowledge of personal finance and economics
Exceptional news judgment
Superior organizational skills
Excellent project and people management skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
