O’Hare International Airport is embarking on a major transformation of its terminal buildings. This modernization program is titled O’Hare 21 and includes replacement of Terminal 2 with a new O’Hare Global Terminal, expansion of Terminal 5, and two new Satellite concourses. Jacobs, part of the program management team, is seeking an experienced, creative, and collaborative Marketing and Communications Manager in Chicago, IL, to develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the multi-billion-dollar capital improvement program. The Marketing and Communications Manager will lead an in-house team of communications coordinators and graphic designers, oversee a team of consulting firms that provide plans and content related to communications, public relations, crisis management and marketing, and act as a key liaison between airport leadership and the program management team.
Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of communications support, including the development of press releases, speeches, presentations, social media content, talking point memos, project fact sheets, and other deliverables as needed
Provide oversight and management of subconsultant firms, aligning communications and marketing strategy to accomplish goals set by the organization
Establish, manage, and evaluate integrated marketing, communication and community outreach strategies
Lead marketing support initiatives including asset management, content creation and promotion of projects
Lead development of audience segmentation, messaging and targeting
Project manage several initiatives at once including leading the team of communications personnel, marketing resources and materials
Manage the marketing and communications budget
Provide regular progress reports, including a comprehensive project tracker
Liaise between Project Managers, Construction Managers, and marketing and communications staff to capture deliverables, ensuring all deliverables are provided by deadlines
Project manage the development of a project website and the development of a project asset library including video and photography
Ensure the successful execution of the Marketing and Communications Plan which will include bought and earned media, outreach events, social media, website redesign
Compile and execute an annual marketing and communication plan to reflect the needs of the organization
Stay abreast of industry and market trends and possess a general interest and understanding of aviation and construction industries
This role will require flexibility in working hours, including occasional extended and late work hours as needed to meet deadlines and organizational requirements.
Here’s What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism, or a related field
10+ years’ experience developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies
5+ years’ experience managing direct reports and/or external agencies
Experience with crisis management and handling sensitive matters to mitigate reputational risk
Previous success managing simultaneous projects, budgets, and deadlines with ability to plan, achieve and evaluate results individually and through other mediums
Possesses excellent verbal, written, and listening skills including the ability to effectively use knowledge to collaborate, guide, and interact professionally with all levels of stakeholders, and external agency partners
Experience working with creative teams to create effective messages and campaigns
Minimum 4 days per week onsite at O’Hare International Airport with the program management team. One day per week may be remote work.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
Experience working in communications or marketing with government agencies
Working knowledge of Chicago government practices
Experience working with construction firms and/or in the aviation industry
