Journalist

The Times News Group, publisher of the Geelong Times, Surf Coast Times, Bellarine Times and Armstrong Creek Times, is offering a great opportunity for a full-time journalist to join the team.

Successful applicants will have five or more years’ experience, have the ability to produce content for publication in print, online and social media channels.

We are after a journalist who has experience in local government and community news reporting, the ability to cover a variety of topics, and to write to the voice of our local community. The successful applicant will have the ability to produce clean copy, have strong attention to detail, an ability to self-edit, and produce video and photographic content.

An interest and knowledge of Geelong, the Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula and other regions the Times News Group covers is desirable.

Excellent project management skills, awareness and respect of deadlines, and the ability to plan and prioritise effectively are essential in this role, as is the ability to produce strong visual content.

Experience in content management system Wordpress is favourable.

Duties include:

Writing relevant, and compelling stories
Producing factual and concise news
Sourcing leads and finding stories that are unique
Creating engaging content for print and digital platforms

The successful candidate must have a valid driver's licence and be able to work some weekends and public holidays.
