Reporter - Missouri Sports

The award-winning Kansas City Star sports department is looking for a reporter to cover University of Missouri athletics. We're looking for someone with high energy who can step into a competitive college beat and offer a unique perspective on key athletes, figures and events that will increase readership. Experience covering a major college program is a plus, but not required. Duties include covering high-profile Mizzou sports programs such as football and men's basketball, plus others as reader interest indicates. This reporter will be expected to write fast and often when news breaks and also manage their time to step back for analysis, profile and enterprise reporting on high-interest topics. This reporter will work to grow our digital audience around Mizzou sports by producing best-in-class journalism that directly connects with this fan base. Framing stories with this audience in mind is critical, as is keeping a close eye on metrics to see what coverage resonates and which stories don’t, and using that information to make smart decisions.
