Under the supervision of the Director of Multimedia Production and Strategy, the Multimedia Journalist (Professional Services Specialist 4) is a crucial member of our award-winning multimedia team responsible for creating video and photography stories for Kean News, the university’s official news website, social media and other outlets. The Multimedia Journalist is a driven, creative, and dedicated news hound, capable of operating independently on shoots, with a knack for multimedia storytelling. The Multimedia Journalist performs basic professional functions using established policies, procedures and guidelines; and does related work as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including occasional evening and weekend hours for special events such as commencement and homecoming.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience as a reporter or multimedia journalist in a broadcast or college setting with daily production deadlines is required. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the one year of required experience. Candidate must have knowledge of story structure and the principles and techniques of shooting and editing news style video and photography. Skilled at shooting with professional cameras and editing with non-linear software such as Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve to create video content are essential. SPECIAL NOTE: Essential job functions include the ability to lift, position, move and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds over short and long distances.
